Hello everybody,

My name is Liviu, I'm from Romania and I've been in the aquarium hobby for more than 15 years, out of which the last 6 years in reef tanks exclusively.

I recently moved to the Netherlands so I had to sell all the fish & coral I had in Romania, which was a bummer... but now I am excited to setup a new reef tank, so that's nice!

I'm looking forward to being part of this community and to learning new things for this beautiful hobby!

I need a little help from you guys, actually: I'd like to know which stores you recommend for buying live stock (i.e. healthy fish, pest free corals).

Or are they all the same quality? (I live near Amsterdam)

I know De Jong is very big, but it does not sell to private individuals afaik.

That is a great solution indeed. Do you also visit this forum to inform yourself, or do you mainly rely on fora in other languages for your online-info?
 
Well, yes, I want to use this forum for information, but more importantly for being part of the community, maybe meet some people, trade livestock, exchange ideas and so on.

I've been part of Romanian forums for many years, but in the past few years people have moved on Facebook and whatsapp, which I totally dislike because there is no history so you cannot search, new people ask the same questions so it becomes less interesting etc.

So I prefer forums, more precisely local ones. I sometimes visit the american ones, but not so much.

I assume your first name is liviu, because I had a Romanian colleague with the same first name. meeting people exchanging stuff being part of a community is also an important reason for me to be a member of this forum. this is a lively forum where people help each other share the same passion and sometimes meet, what place do you live in?

I live in Amstelveen - forgot to update location.
By the way, I wanted to ask whether there are aquarium events in NL? Like the americans do, you know, like Reefapalouza or local frag swaps etc
About a month ago I visited Reptilica with my kids, it was awesone, I had to make efforts to refrain myself from buying a spider :-) my wife would not be happy about that, too many hobbies :-)
It would be great if there were such events for the aquarium hobby.

Welcome! Though this is possibly a bit pretentious for me to say as I have not even started my tank and only posted a few lines. :)

Your original question was what stores we would recommend. As you live in Amstelveen you might consider to go to Aquasan. As said, I do not have a lot of experience but they are very serious, taking lots of time to advise, and as far as I know they have a good reputation.

They are based in Boesingeliede. That is close to Amstelveen. You find their add below the forums. Here is the address:
